Bubba and the Ten Little Loonies Bubba Mysteries Book 6 edition by CL Bevill Literature Fiction eBooks
I have now finished the entire "Bubba" series and thoroughly enjoyed every single one of them. They are true to the South with just a little bit of going over the top with the Southern Redneck now and again. I love all of the characters and though I was not born in the South, as a military family, we lived in the South several times and even though I married and now live in WA State, when I talk about my "home" I mean Huntsville,AL. I've met many of the characters in these books. I love all the eccentric characters and it is written very well with not enough typos etc that they interfered with my enjoyment at all. Very original. I laughed out loud many times and except for the (uh oh!) moments since murders occur frequently in all of the books, I read with a smile on my face most of the time. To clarify the murders comment- this is not written in a morbid, full of blood and all the grisly details. I read those types of books as well and like them so that sentence is from my own perspective and I don't want to steer you wrong. I am a retired Registered Nurse and worked 19 years in Critical Care Units so not much bothers me. I read them all in order and I think that is the best way. Each book has most of the main characters but new ones are added and references are made to earlier books in all but the first, of course. It helps you to continue to follow the and understand those characters and for me it also helps me keep track of all the new ones. I have memory loss and difficulties concentrating due to chronic health issues so that is a big plus for me. Every book hooked me from the start to the end and I never wanted to stop and put one down. I will be impatiently waiting for the next one so, please don't write the other kind of books that you also write Ms. Bevill, and stick with the Bubba series! The others are not a genre that I care for though I did try one. It just didn't work.Product details

Bubba and the Ten Little Loonies Bubba Mysteries Book 6 edition by CL Bevill Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Poor Bubba just can't get a break! He just wanted to go fishing.
His friend, who voluntarily resides at the local loony bin, urgently needs his help to solve a murder, which ultimately leaves Bubba trapped there over a long weekend, during - one by one - the "residents" begin to disappear.
I won't be like my sister ( who will tell you every detail of any movie you might wish to see, leaving it unnecessary to actually SEE said movie), so I will let you read it yourself to see how hunky Bubba solves the mystery
Not one of Ms Bevill's best, but still funny. (Sorry Caren!)
I really liked this one, especially getting more involvement in the story of David Beathard, AKA The Purple Singapore Sling, AKA Sherlock Holmes, AKA several others. I love David, and the 10 little Indians theme was good. Well written as always, loved the usual and original similes and metaphors, and was relieved at the end when Bubba did finally get blowed up, 'cause I was beginning to be afraid it wasn't gonna happen. It was a real relief of my suspense.
I can not express how much I enjoy these Bubba books. They are quirky and funny and the characters are lovable and memorable. I was hooked at the first reading of the first one, Bubba and the Dead Woman. Bubba and The Ten Little Loonies did not disappoint. When a new one comes out I try to read it slowly, but my mind is always with Bubba until I finish. The Ransom of Brownie (which I believe is book 6) is one of the funniest things I have ever read. Please do yourself a favor and read these books. You will get the most enjoyment from them if you read them in order.
I have read all the books in the Bubba Series by C L Bevill. I really don't know why--I guess because I'm retired and have time on my hands. They're easy to read, and I can read them anywhere and everywhere on my . However, I really like the character Bubba. But, the situations he gets in are often convoluted and contrived. I'm waiting for the next book in the series, but will be really disappointed If they don't get married. And why did his girlfriend get pregnant? This seems so out of character for Bubba--it took me by surprise. By the way, I'll read anything, so I'm not sure how seriously anyone should take my review. And, by the way, I'm from Virginia and actually know people named Bubba.
I have enjoyed all of the previous Bubba books. This one, however, I found to be tedious. The story could have been told in about half the time. I started to seriously skim at about the 75% mark.
The things I found enjoyable and humorous in the other books were just way overdone in this story. A significant chunk of this book was dedicated to silly, redundant accounts of a dog farting, a drag queen who doesn't realize he's a drag queen worrying about and reapplying his make up, and one of the characters insisting on being called by a fictional name even in the midst of being in danger.
I hope that if the Bubba series goes on the next one is closer in tone to the previous books than this one.
I like light-hearted mystery/romance books, like Lillian Braun's-"The Cat Who" books. What through me for a loop with these last two books, was Willodean and Bubba's relationship. In the last book, Willodean comes up pregnant. In this book, they are planning to get married and an a mystery pops up that was interesting, but illogical. That was the twist. But the author never gave the reader a clue Willodean and Bubba were having an intimate relationship. I can enjoy sweet, innocent romances that lead to marriage, then babies. Not sweet and innocent to start and then pregnancy. There never was a "Bubba parked his truck 2 miles away and walked to Willodean's; or "Bubba had to leave Willodean before dawn which he hated." Maybe I protest too much, but it was a tremendous SHOCK to me. Anyway, the cliques used for Texas rednecks are trite. The author sets you up for the next book. However, the book was an enjoyable read for fluff and I would recommend it.
